Radiation Therapy Services

Advanced treatment options for the full spectrum of cancers — delivered with precision, speed, and personal attention.

The Right Technology for Every Case

Our Varian EDGE LINAC platform supports the full range of modern radiation therapy modalities — many of which are not available at other WNY sites.

SBRT

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy

Lung Prostate Liver Spine Kidney

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy delivers high, precisely targeted doses of radiation to tumors in the body — typically in 3 to 5 fractions instead of the 25-40 fractions required with conventional radiation. For eligible patients, this means weeks of daily treatments compressed into just one to two weeks.

SBRT is curative-intent for early-stage lung cancer, oligometastatic disease, prostate cancer, and liver tumors. The Varian EDGE's sub-millimeter accuracy and real-time IDENTIFY surface guidance make it ideal for SBRT — ensuring the beam tracks the tumor precisely even as patients breathe.

  • 5-fraction prostate SBRT: clinical equivalence to 8 weeks of conventional RT
  • Lung SBRT: local control rates comparable to surgical resection in early-stage NSCLC
  • Spine SBRT: effective for relieving pain from bone metastases and addressing spine tumors

SRS

Stereotactic Radiosurgery

Brain Tumors Brain Mets AVM

Stereotactic radiosurgery uses precisely focused beams of radiation to treat tumors and abnormalities in the brain — in a single session or a small number of fractions — with millimeter-level accuracy.

Atlas Radiation Medicine's Varian EDGE with 6-degree-of-freedom couch positioning is purpose-built for SRS. Dr. Hallock works closely with neurosurgeons across Western New York to coordinate the best plan for you — from diagnosis through treatment.

  • Brain metastases from lung, breast, melanoma, and other primaries
  • Meningioma, acoustic neuroma, pituitary adenoma
  • Arteriovenous malformations (AVM)

IMRT

Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy

IMRT varies the intensity of the radiation beam across multiple angles to deliver a higher dose to the tumor while minimizing dose to surrounding organs. It is the standard of care for head & neck, prostate, GYN, and many other sites.

  • Head & neck — sparing salivary glands, spinal cord
  • Prostate — protecting bladder and rectum
  • GYN — protecting bowel and bladder
  • Post-op breast — sculpting dose around lung and heart

IGRT

Image-Guided Radiation Therapy

Real-time CBCT and kV/MV imaging before every treatment fraction — verifying patient position and accounting for daily anatomic variation.

Combined with IDENTIFY surface guidance, our IGRT workflow delivers the most accurate daily positioning available in any WNY outpatient setting.
